Wii U: I have enabled MAC filtering on my router and I cannot connect. What can I do?

If you have enabled MAC filtering in your router’s menu, you may need to add your Wii U's MAC address to the MAC addresses that are accepted by your router. If you do not do so, your Wii U may remain blocked from accessing your network and thus the Internet. To check whether MAC filtering is enabled, you need to log into your router and go through the following steps.

1. Go to your web browser and enter http://sitecom.router (or http://192.168.0.1)

2. You will then be asked for your router’s user name (admin) and password. These are shown in the Network Login Details flyer that may have been supplied with it. 

NB: if you have changed the name of your network and/or your password, you must use these modified details when logging in.

3. You are then taken to your router’s menu. This will look something like this (depending on your Sitecom router):

4. Select 2.4GHz WiFi and ACL

5. If you have checked the Enable Wireless Access Control checkbox here, MAC filtering is active. You will then have to add your Wii U's MAC address, since otherwise it may be blocked. 

6. Enter the MAC address of the Wii U, accompanied if required by a comment. Click here if you do not have the MAC address.  Actie webmaster: Waar kan ik het MAC adres van mijn Wii U vinden?

7. Then click on Add to add it to the list of accepted MAC addresses. The MAC address is added to the MAC Address filter table.

8. Click on Apply to save the changes.
